Conceptual design brief to help promote Alton Towers latest and greatest 18 million pound 'World Beating' roller coaster, We set to work on some conceptual design work for an iOS iPhone application that would act as an interactive form of marketing and queue line entertainment.
The app's unique design adds in an exciting twist to how a coaster rider could interact with a new ride/attraction. In particular this design offers riders the chance to test there 'Fear levels' generated in the queue line using the iPhones built in camera and hardware.
Using a clever algorithm and the iPhones camera and LED flash, upon holding your index finger over the lens on the rear of the device the app can detect your heart beat through tiny fluctuations in your skins colour. The iPhones rear LED lights up the skin covering the lens, the app then detects the fluctuations and from this information can generate an accurate heart BPM.
From there on Users would be able to post their results to social networking sites within the app and compare with other users online, generating free publicity for the new ride and entertaining guests with an interactive experience whilst queueing for long periods of time.
